Kochi: Egg merchants have announced the formation of an organisation named the United Egg Merchants Welfare Association, headquartered in Ernakulam. A meeting of egg merchants observed that frequent and uncontrolled increases in egg prices are causing difficulties for both traders and consumers. The first state conference of the association, held in Kochi, decided to initiate discussions with egg producers and various state governments to ensure greater price stability for eggs. The meeting also elected the office-bearers of the association.
C.K. Jamal was elected Patron, Jin Varghese President, C.M. Baiju General Secretary and Joby George Treasurer. A.K. Kabeer, P. Abdul Sattar, P.M. Faisal, Badrudeen and Mani were elected Vice Presidents, while A.N. Prasad, Muhammed Anas, Sajan K. Joy, V.P. Kunjumon and K.A. Sharath Lal were elected Joint Secretaries.
