Theatre: The Myth of Reality’ Shines on International Stages; Awards in Kolkata and St. Petersburg

Kochi : ‘Theatre: The Myth of Reality’, written and directed by Sajín Babu and featuring Rima Kallingal in the lead role, continues its successful journey at international film festivals with notable achievements. The film has won four major awards at two prominent film festivals recently held in India and abroad.

At the ninth Riturangam Film Festival held in Kolkata, ‘Theatre’ was selected as the Best Indian Film. Rima Kallingal won the Best Actress award for her outstanding performance in the film, while Shyamaprakash M.S. received the Best Cinematographer award. ‘Theatre’ also had the distinction of being the only Malayalam film selected for the competition section. The awards were decided by a jury headed by acclaimed actress Sreelakha Mukherjee.

At the same time, Sajín Babu won the Best Director award at the Big City Light International Film Festival held in St. Petersburg, Russia. The film achieved this recognition after competing in the international competition section as the only entry from India. The winners were selected by a jury headed by renowned Russian filmmaker Andrey Kravchuk.

Produced by Anjana Philip and Philip Zacharia under the banner of Anjana Talkies, the film had earlier won an award at the Western Gate Film Festival as well. The continued recognition the film is receiving globally is further enhancing the international reputation of Malayalam cinema.
