Angamaly: The Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Angamaly, is set to celebrate its Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of excellence in technical education. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan will officially inaugurate the celebrations and dedicate the new Silver Jubilee Block at a function to be held at the Green Field Auditorium on the college campus at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 30.
Established in 2002 under the Federal Bank Officers’ Association Educational Society (FBOAES), FISAT has achieved significant milestones in technical education, research and campus placements. The 75,000-square-foot Silver Jubilee Block, constructed to mark the institution’s 25th anniversary, houses advanced technology courses, research centres and state-of-the-art laboratories.
Higher Education Minister Roji M. John will be the chief guest. FISAT Chairman P.R. Shimith will preside over the function. Benny Behanan, MP; Dr. Ciza Thomas, Vice Chancellor of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University; and K.V.S. Manian, Managing Director and CEO of Federal Bank, will deliver keynote addresses. Mookkannur Grama Panchayat President Jaya Radhakrishnan, FISAT Vice Chairman Sachin Jacob Paul, Treasurer Jenib J. Kachappilly and Associate Secretary S. Sathyamoorthy will offer felicitations. Representatives of the PTA, alumni and college union will also attend the function.
Members of the management committee, Federal Bank Officers’ Association and FBOAES Society, along with prominent personalities from the political, social and cultural spheres, elected representatives, former employees and those who donated land for establishing the institution, will participate in the celebrations.
A documentary titled 25 Years of Excellence – FISAT will be screened at the event. The institution will also announce a year-long Silver Jubilee master plan, higher education scholarships and social welfare initiatives. Office-bearers announced the details at a press conference held in Angamaly.
FISAT Chairman P.R. Shimith, Vice Chairman Sachin Jacob Paul, Treasurer Jenib J. Kachappilly, Associate Treasurer Shashi P.R., management committee members Abdul Nasser M.P., K.K. Ajith Kumar and George C. Chacko, Principal Dr. V. Jacob Thomas, and Public Relations Manager Shinto Sebastian attended the press conference.
