New Delhi : Leaders of the World Malayali Council (WMC) met with BJP National Vice President Ram Madhav in New Delhi to discuss critical issues facing Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), primarily urging the government to facilitate voting mechanisms for overseas citizens. Represented by WMC Global Vice President Dr. P. B. Bose and India Region Chairman Adv. K. V. Sabu, the delegation highlighted the need for practical solutions—such as electronic postal ballots, embassy/consulate-based voting, or secure tech platforms—so registered NRI voters can cast their ballots without traveling to their home constituencies. The meeting covered several key concerns, including expedited consular support, a unified grievance redressal framework, protection against overseas job fraud, secure recruitment processes, and time-bound resolutions for property and investment legal disputes in India. Additionally, the discussions touched upon strengthening insurance and social security for migrant workers, rehabilitation and entrepreneurial support for returnees, and emergency aid systems for Indian students studying abroad. The WMC leaders urged the creation of a integrated digital support platform linking Indian embassies, central and state governments, and recognized NRI organizations, adding that a comprehensive memorandum will be submitted to the central government to ensure the long-term welfare, security, and democratic participation of the Indian diaspora.
