FORT KOCHI : The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) marked a significant operational milestone as 42 Assistant Commandants of the 82nd Batch successfully graduated from the ICG Training Centre following the completion of the Coast Guard Law and Operations Course. The graduation was celebrated with a ceremonial Passing Out Parade (POP) at ICG District Headquarters No. 4 in Fort Kochi, signaling the officers’ formal readiness for active maritime duty. The parade was reviewed by Deputy Inspector General Ashish Mehrotra, Commander, Coast Guard District No. 4, who commended the officers for their dedication and highlighted the critical responsibilities that await them aboard operational platforms within the world’s fourth-largest Coast Guard.
During the ceremony, Assistant Commandant Gaurav Dwivedi was awarded the Book Prize for securing the top position in academics for the 82nd batch, while the coveted Director General Sword of Honour was conferred upon Assistant Commandant Tanuj Kumar for standing first in the overall order of merit across the 81st course’s afloat, technical, and operational training modules. Addressing the newly commissioned officers, DIG Mehrotra emphasized that maintaining moral probity, unwavering professionalism, and a “service before self” attitude will form the bedrock of their character as they navigate challenging operational environments in defense of the nation’s maritime interests.
