KOCHI: Preparations are underway for ‘Onnichonam Ponnonam 2026’, a grand Onam celebration organised by ICL Fincorp in Irinjalakuda, with an extensive organising committee constituted to coordinate the event. ICL Fincorp Chairman Adv. K. G. Anilkumar, who presided over the organising committee meeting, said the event is being planned on a grand scale with programmes aimed at attracting statewide attention.
A spectacular cultural procession showcasing Kerala’s rich artistic heritage will be one of the major highlights of the celebration. Traditional art forms including Pulikali, Kummattikali, Theyyam, Thira, Thiruvathira and Kathakali will feature in the procession. The organisers are also exploring the possibility of making an attempt for a Guinness World Record. Various competitions will also be organised with the participation of schools and colleges as part of the celebrations.
MLAs Adv. Thomas Unniyadan and Saneesh Kumar Joseph, Irinjalakuda Municipal Chairman M. P. Jackson, and Thrissur District Panchayat Vice President T. K. Sudheesh attended the meeting. An organising committee comprising more than 2,000 members has been formed, with M. P. Jackson as its chairman, to oversee the preparations and successful conduct of the event.
