Empowered by Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2026, Kochi Customs sparked a vital student movement at GVHSS Edappally
KOCHI: In a powerful bid to fortify the youth against the growing menace of substance abuse, the Commissionerate of Customs Preventive, Kochi, hosted a high-impact anti-drug awareness campaign at GVHSS, North Edappally, aligned with the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2026 initiative. The program was officially inaugurated by Dr. T. Tiju, I.R.S., Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), Kochi, who delivered a stirring address urging students to protect their futures by building the resilience to reject illicit substances immediately. Warning that drug abuse is a devastating social scourge that dismantles individuals, families, and communities alike, Dr. Tiju emphasized that a healthy body and clear mind form the ultimate foundation for life achievements. “The courage to say a definitive ‘no’ to narcotics right at the very first instance is the greatest victory a person can achieve,” he stated, challenging the students to become active catalysts of change by carrying this vital message back to their families and peer groups.
The event, presided over by School Headmaster Naveen Puthussery, seamlessly transitioned into immersive, action-oriented training sessions led by Customs Superintendent Vivek V. and expert Psychological Analyst Ms. Sandra Soja Azy, who equipped the students with practical mental health tools to resist peer pressure and identify toxic influences. A distinguished panel of officials also rallied behind the cause, offering their support and insights during the event. Key speakers included Customs Joint Commissioner Balasubramanyan R. Menon (I.R.S.), Customs Deputy Commissioner Oommen Joseph, PTA President Muhammad Hazrat, Staff Secretary Mahin Bakhvi, and Student Representative Diya Prabha, all uniting in a collective pledge to foster a safer, drug-free environment for the next generation.
