Kochi: Indian companies are strengthening their supply chains to navigate changes in global trade and capitalise on emerging growth opportunities, according to the India Country Report 2026 by DP World’s Global Trade Observatory. As businesses prepare to address supply chain disruptions, 70% of Indian executives are prioritising supplier diversification, while 59% are increasing inventory levels. Digitalisation, artificial intelligence and access to new markets are also among the key priorities.
A survey of 451 supply chain and logistics executives found that the proportion of Indian companies that have fully digitalised customer services is higher than the global average. Production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, trade agreements with various countries and FTAs are also supporting India’s trade growth. The report further states that 57% of respondents in India believe trade finance is reasonably accessible.
Alongside trade growth, 46% of logistics executives are prioritising the development of road networks. Companies are also increasingly shifting towards multimodal transportation systems, including rail and coastal shipping. According to the report, this transition can improve the efficiency of cargo movement while helping reduce logistics costs and carbon emissions
