Amrita Hospital and K. Chittilappilly Foundation Partner for ‘Hridaya Chittamrutham’ Free Pediatric Heart Surgery Project

KOCHI: Amrita Hospital, Kochi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the K. Chittilappilly Foundation to launch ‘Hridaya Chittamrutham’, a major social health initiative offering free heart surgeries for underprivileged children under 18 years of age. Under this humanitarian project, the K. Chittilappilly Foundation has committed ₹10 crore to cover the surgical and medical expenses of pediatric cardiac patients. The MoU exchange took place at Chittilappilly Square in Kakkanad between Kochouseph Chittilappilly, Chairman of K. Chittilappilly Foundation, and Dr. P. Pratap Nair, Chief Medical Administrator of Amrita Hospital. Highlighting the clinical roadmap, Dr. Brijesh P.K., Professor and Head of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Amrita Hospital, detailed the operational structure of the project, while Dr. R. Krishna Kumar, Head of Pediatric Cardiology, and Dr. Balu Vaidyanathan reinforced the institutional commitment to providing advanced cardiac care to needy families. Expressing his gratification, Kochouseph Chittilappilly stated that the collaboration aims to reach marginalized children across the region who lack access to life-saving surgical interventions.
