Scaling Fleet Welfare Capacity Across Major Metro Hubs
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Underscoring its commitment to logistics personnel welfare, Amazon India has announced the launch of 50 new ‘Ashraya’ rest centers across key metropolitan hubs including Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Mumbai. With this latest expansion, the total number of operational air-conditioned Ashraya centers has reached 200, putting the company on track to achieve its stated target of 250 centers by the end of 2026. Designed as open-access resting hubs, the Ashraya facilities are freely accessible to all delivery associates regardless of their employer or logistics company affiliation. Each center is fully equipped with air-conditioned seating, clean drinking water, high-speed mobile charging stations, hygienic washroom facilities, first-aid kits, and comfortable resting zones.
As part of the nationwide rollout, Amazon India also deployed two mobile Ashraya vans in Bengaluru, making it the fourth major urban center—after Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Hyderabad—to operationalize mobile rest stations along high-density delivery routes. First piloted in Delhi NCR in 2024, the Ashraya initiative scaled to 100 locations across 16 cities in 2025, subsequently adding 50 locations in May 2026 and another 50 in September 2026. Company executives confirmed that the rapid expansion of the Ashraya network forms an integral component of Amazon India’s overarching ₹2,800 crore investment program in 2026, aimed at strengthening health, safety, financial well-being, and operational support infrastructure across its nationwide fulfillment and last-mile operations network.
