NEW DELHI: Following high-level discussions between the Prime Ministers of India and Vietnam on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, India’s Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh met with Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, in New Delhi on September 13, 2026. The bilateral meeting focused on advancing regional security, deepening the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and accelerating joint initiatives in technology sharing and defence industrial collaboration.

Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to a peaceful, stable, and rule-based regional security architecture, emphasizing the importance of close coordination under multilateral platforms such as the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) and its Experts’ Working Groups. To sustain this momentum, both sides agreed to hold the next Defence Policy Dialogue in India on the sidelines of Aero India 2027, further consolidating practical defence cooperation across the Indo-Pacific.
