Lumut, Malaysia : As part of the Indian Navy’s operational deployment, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Mysore arrived at Lumut, Malaysia, on September 9, 2026, to participate in the fourth edition of the bilateral maritime exercise Samudra Laksamana between the Indian Navy and the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). The ship and its crew were warmly welcomed by personnel of the Royal Malaysian Navy and officials from the High Commission of India in Malaysia.
Exercise Samudra Laksamana features a range of professional engagements both in harbour and at sea, including cross-deck visits, operational interactions and sporting activities. These engagements provide personnel of the two navies with opportunities to exchange professional experiences, enhance interoperability and strengthen mutual understanding.
The visit builds on the momentum generated by recent bilateral engagements, including the 12th India-Malaysia Sub Committee Meeting held on July 1, 2026. It underscores the strong and enduring maritime partnership between India and Malaysia and reflects the expanding scope of cooperation between the two navies. The engagement is expected to further strengthen professional exchanges and contribute to enhanced maritime cooperation between the two countries.
The visit and exercise are aligned with the Government of India’s vision of MAHASAGAR and the ASEAN–India Year of Maritime Cooperation 2026, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening maritime partnerships and promoting cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
