Malayali Startup Sets Up India’s First Mixed Reality Multiplayer Learning Lab in Madhya Pradesh

Kochi: Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM)-backed Malayalam startup Infusory Future Tech Labs has established what it describes as India’s first Mixed Reality Multiplayer Learning Lab at Jyothi Senior Secondary School in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Founded in 2018 by Kottayam native Thomson Tom and Thrissur native Shyam Pradeep Alil, Infusory has developed Tutor XR, an advanced immersive learning platform for the school education sector. Spread across 1,000 square feet, the lab enables students to interact directly with three-dimensional digital models and learn through immersive experiences within the classroom. Unlike conventional Virtual Reality systems, where students are individually immersed in computer-generated environments, Mixed Reality technology allows students to see their classroom, teachers and classmates while learning collaboratively. For instance, in physics experiments such as the reflection of light, students can work together to position virtual mirrors and light rays, observe the results and share their observations. Tutor XR offers more than 3,000 immersive learning modules. The platform enables multiple students in an XR environment to view and interact with the same virtual objects at precisely the same locations without requiring specialised tracking devices or additional hardware setups. This is made possible through Infusory’s proprietary Relative Anchoring System. Jyothi Senior Secondary School Manager Adv. Fr. Jesbin Mathew said the Tutor XR lab would make learning more engaging and experiential through technology, while Principal Fr. Siju John expressed his happiness at introducing such an advanced facility at the school. The initiative supports the objectives of the National Education Policy by promoting experiential and technology-enabled learning beyond textbooks and conventional descriptions. Infusory, which has implemented technology projects for global organisations including Singapore Airlines, aims to introduce innovative learning methods in India’s school education sector through immersive technology.
