KOCHI : International cycling champion and Kochi native Kezia Varghese has achieved a historic milestone for Indian sports by successfully completing the prestigious Level-3 Elite Coaching Course held at the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland. Kezia was selected for this exclusive three-week elite training program—which concluded on September 30, 2026—under the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) highly competitive ‘Olympic Solidarity Scholarship.’ Demonstrating her exceptional credentials on the global stage, she was among a select cohort of only 12 female cycling coaches chosen worldwide for the inaugural women-only elite coaching course.
A decorated athlete with 6 international medals and 84 national medals to her credit, the 35-year-old cyclist has been serving as the head state coach for Kerala for the past four years following her retirement from competitive cycling. A resident of Gandhiji Road, Thammanam, Kochi, Kezia also works as an Assistant at the Advocate General’s Office. Expressing her ambition to transform Indian cycling, Kezia emphasized that her primary goal is to leverage world-class sports science, advanced tactical strategies, and high-performance training methodologies to guide Indian cyclists toward victory at international and Olympic forums.
