Kottayam: The Kottayam leg of the nationwide ‘Nari Nivesh Yatra’, organized by HDFC Mutual Fund with the aim of enhancing investment and financial awareness among women, has concluded. As part of this six-month-long initiative, which began in Chennai on June 26, interactions were held in markets and with local communities across Kottayam, Kanjikuzhi, Nagampadam, Ettumanoor, Kumarakom, and Pala. The yatra is an extension of HDFC’s ‘Burni Se Azaadi’ campaign, which encourages individuals to move away from traditional saving methods and adopt informed investment practices.
With the increasing role of women in household financial decisions, the initiative also includes 60 special awareness sessions for women self-help groups across the country. Traveling in two campaign vehicles, the yatra uses street plays, awareness classes, and direct interactions to simplify concepts such as financial planning, goal-based investing, and long-term wealth creation.
Navneet Munot, Managing Director and CEO of HDFC Asset Management Company, stated that the initiative aims to highlight the importance of developing disciplined investment habits through conversations around personal finance. He added that the program seeks to demonstrate that investing is not complex and is a practical pathway for women to confidently achieve their financial goals.
